The Foreign Supplier Verification Workshop provides the credentials to meet FDA requirements for development and implementation of the Foreign Supplier Verification Program as part of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulations.

This 2 course was developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance, a broad-based public private alliance created by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Illinois Institute of Technology's Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH) in cooperation with the Association of Food and Drug Officials. This course is presented by Lead Instructors from Penn State.

Who Should Attend

The Foreign Supplier Verification Program requires that importers have a Qualified Individuals for the development and implementation of the requirements of the Supplier Verification Program. The course provides training and a certificate in order to meet those requirements. The curriculum is designed for import professionals with responsibility for a company's Supplier Verification Program in terms of development, implementation or maintenance of food safety activities associated with importation of food. It is suitable for those working in any area of food importation, whether actually importing food, or purchasing food that was already imported. It is useful for those working in an operational role (purchasing, logistics, quality, operations, etc), or where knowledge of the rule will be helpful (sales, marketing, upper management).

Course Details

The two day course provides instruction into the development of a Supplier Verification Program as required by FDA as part of Food Safety Modernization Act. Participants will learn the key elements of the Supplier Verifications Program -the hazard analysis, supplier evaluation and approval, importer identification, and record keeping.

This training was developed by FSPCA (Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance) and is delivered by Penn State and affiliated instructors.
