Hofstaedter Recipient of 2013 Undergraduate Student Leadership Award

Amanda is an outstanding student and member of the Penn State Schreyer Honors College. Amanda served as co-chair of the Schreyer Honors College Service Committee to coordinate student efforts to make meal bags for the local Meals on Wheels in State College. She is an active member in the Food Science Club having served two years as secretary as well a serving on the Club's executive, service, and tailgate committees. Amanda is a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma and was vice president of her class in 2012. As a member Gamma Sigma Sigma, Amanda organized their spring service project, a "Senior Prom for Senior Citizens" with the activity directors at the Oaks retirement community. She has been active in the Penn State Inter Fraternity Council/Pan Hellenic Dance marathon (THON) and served on the Alternative Fundraising Committee.

In 2011, Amanda participated in the NASA WISER (Women in Science and Engineering Research) program. During the summer of 2012 and 2013, Amanda worked as a research, development & quality intern with Kraft Foods, Inc. in the Beverage Division where she gained valuable experience and insight into the food industry. Her internship culminated with poster sessions in Tarrytown, NY and Glenview, IL to showcase her accomplishments. Amanda has accepted a full-time job working in Beverage Division at their Tarrytown, NY location.

Amanda is described as a strong community citizen who is bright, curious, detailed oriented and hardworking.
