Beginning of June Penn State Department of Food Science welcomed 13 Bugs in my Food (BIMG) Undergraduate Fellows that joined faculty labs to train their laboratory and science communication skills in the context of food microbiology.

The program started with a week-long Food uBiology Boot Camp that equipped students with basic microbiological skills, from microbial to DNA isolation and characterization. We are excited to have two of the BIMG Fellows - Marysabel Mendez Acevedo from University of Puerto Rico and Hephzibah Nwanosike from Juniata College - joining our lab!
