Every spring, the Department of Food Science and the College of Agricultural Sciences disburse scholarships and awards to graduate students planning to enroll during the fall and spring semester.
All currently enrolled graduate students with a 3.0 GPA or better and who will be enrolled full-time during the following Fall Semester are eligible for consideration. To be considered for scholarships and awards, students must complete the following applications by April 30.
- The Department of Food Science Application for Graduate Scholarship is now included in the College of Agricultural Sciences Application form.
- The College of Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Application form (available on-line in February - submit electronically by April 30.
- Scholarships and awards denoted above with an asterisk (*) require proven financial need as determined by the processing of Free Application for Federal Student Aid-FAFSA. Students are required to complete the FAFSA application. To be eligible to complete this application, students must be one of the following: U.S. citizen, U.S. national (includes natives of American Samoa or Swain's Island), or, U.S. permanent resident who has an I-151, I-551, or I-551C (Permanent Resident Card).

- Janet G. and Frank J. Dudek Graduate Scholarship in Food Science
- John H. Hetrick Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Food Science
- John and Jane Ziegler Graduate Award in Sensory Science
- Paul S. Dimick Graduate Student Award in Food Science
- Pennsylvania Manufacturing Confectioners' Association Graduate Confectionary Fellowship
- Professor Arun Kilara Memorial Graduate Student Award in Food Science
- Robert D. and Jeanne L. McCarthy Graduate Teaching Award and Graduate Scholarship
- Skip and Marilyn Rosskam Graduate Fellowship in Food Science
Announcements will be made in March/April of each year to all students and faculty seeking applications for the departmental scholarships. The applicants are evaluated on the basis of 4 major categories (GPA; Career goals, Research Interests, Statement on why be considered for Scholarship; Research presentations, publications, awards, honors; Extracurricular activities and service to the department, college, university, community and professional organizations).
