Our undergraduate student Cassidy Prince is developing a food microbiology themed coloring book. If you are curious about an invisible world of microbes in food, please download images and have fun coloring.
Endospores (also called "spores") are sturdy structures formed by some bacteria to survive in unfavorable conditions like high heat or freezing temperatures. Once the environment is safe for the bacteria, the spores can create a new, fully functional cell - a vegetative cell.
You may recognize Petri dishes, but you may not know why microbiologists use them. Let’s talk about it!
