Sponsored by the Penn State Food Industry Group, this annual award recognizes Penn State Food Science undergraduate or graduate students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, scholarship, community involvement, and volunteerism.

Judith A. Williams Food Industry Group Undergraduate Leadership Award
Judy Williams, a 1983 Penn State Food Science graduate, passed away on April 7, 2020. Judy served multiple terms as Secretary and President for the Penn State Food Industry Group (FIG), an affiliate program group of the Penn State College of Agriculture Alumni Society. She served on multiple committees over the past 24 years including chairing the Student Leadership Award committee. She was the most recent representative from FIG serving as an associate director for the College of Ag Alumni Society.

Judy was passionate about mentoring students and encouraged students through job shadow opportunities and helped set up internships. This dedication to the field of Food Science and building up the next generation of food scientists was highlighted by her work as chair of the Student Leadership Award Committee. The FIG executive board unanimously agreed that it would like to honor Judy's memory by renaming the FIG Undergraduate Leadership Award in Judy's name. Going forward, the award will be named the Judith A. Williams Food Industry Group Undergraduate Student Leadership Award.
